Requirements

As a Permanent Makeup (PMU) Artist, you are required to:

  • Complete a full PMU Training to obtain your Certificate of Completion by a licensed and registered artist. This can be done online, in person or both. It does not expire and you may obtain multiple certificates from different artists.
  • Completed Blood Borne Pathogens (BBP) test: http://www.protrainings.com or by contacting your Health Care Department.
  • Check state and county regulations before working on clients to legally fulfill your obligation to your profession as a safe work space. You may do this by contacting your Health Care Department via e-mail. (i.g Los Angeles County requires an additional Body Arts Permit and Business License that can be filled out as an online application)

All certificates must be displayed in your work space and annually up to date. These annual renewals include your BBP and permits. Your certificate is not your license.

  • Insurance is important as you are now a business owner. You must select and insurance that covers "Microblading" or "PMU" like beautyinsuranceplus.com

Every state, county and country are different. If you are unsure, contact your Health Care Department and just let them know you just got certified in brows in (your) city/state and want to know what else you might need :)
